About Me
Manuel “Manny” Garcia is a dedicated Public Affairs Audio-Visual Specialist with the 16th Air Force (Air Forces Cyber) at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Lackland, Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education, specializing in Business, from Wayland Baptist University.
Mr. Garcia's journey in Public Affairs began in the early 1990s with the San Antonio Water System. During this formative period, he collaborated closely with copy editors to develop and disseminate visual information products tailored to the City of San Antonio and its surrounding communities.
A retired Navy Reservist, Mr. Garcia volunteered for service in June 1991 amid Operation Desert Shield during the Gulf War. Following his initial tour, he transitioned to the Ready Reserves and was assigned to an Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Battalion, mobilizing twice. His distinguished service includes a deployment to Kuwait in 2004, which was pivotal in his promotion to Navy Chief in 2006, followed by a tour in Germany in 2013. He honorably retired as a Senior Chief in January 2015.
In January 2007, Mr. Garcia joined the Air Force as a Civil Servant within the Public Affairs team. It was during this time that he uncovered his passion for filmmaking, passionately embracing roles as Director, Screenwriter, Producer, and Actor in the vibrant San Antonio film community. Mr. Garcia has produced over six short films, appeared in numerous commercials, and served as lead actor and writer in the feature film The Boys of Ghost Town (2009), co-starring with Danny Trejo.
While his cinematic pursuits are significant, Mr. Garcia’s commitment to community welfare has deepened. He actively ran for a position on the Northside Independent School District (NISD) School Board in response to concerns regarding the influence of "woke" ideologies on children. Although unsuccessful, his dedication to conservative values has intensified, and he has emerged as an influential local activist, engaging in grassroots efforts and volunteering to support Republican candidates in their campaigns.
A first-generation American, Mr. Garcia comes from a lineage of hardworking immigrant parents who legally immigrated to the United States in search of better opportunities. Their legacy continues to inspire his advocacy for community values and involvement.
