Chip Roy is a genuine conservative, a committed husband and father, and a true patriot with extensive experience in both the private sector and public service. Chip is now serving his second term in Congress representing Texas's 21st Congressional District, which covers 10 counties including San Antonio, Austin and the heart of the Texas Hill Country.

In his short time in Congress, Chip has asserted himself as an unwavering conservative voice and a policy-driven leader. During his freshman term, Chip passed legislation to help small businesses, and established himself as a leader on issues like Border Security, Healthcare, and Fiscal Responsibility.

Prior to his election to the House of Representatives, Chip served the people of Texas and the United States in multiple positions, including First Assistant Attorney General of Texas under Ken Paxton, Chief of Staff to U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, and senior advisor to Texas Governor Rick Perry. He is also a former federal prosecutor, having served as Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Texas.

Chip was elected to serve Texas’ 21st Congressional District in November 2018. His committee assignments include the House Judiciary Committee and the House Veteran Affairs Committee. Rep. Roy holds a B.A. and M.A from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the University of Texas. Chip resides in Hays County with his wife Carrah, and his two children Charlie (12) and Virginia (10)

He is also a former federal prosecutor, having served as Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Texas, and served Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) as staff director of his leadership office and senior counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee. He spent nearly 3 years as an investment banking analyst with NationsBank Capital Markets. He received a B.S. in Commerce and an M.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Virginia as well as a J.D. from the University of Texas. He is married to Carrah Roy, and has two children, Charlie and Virginia. He is a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas.
