In recognition of his service and dedication to the great State of Texas, Speaker of the House Joe Straus was presented the Alamo Pachyderm Club Eagle Award. The award was presented at the Petroleum Club of San Antonio by the founder and past president of the club, Mr. Ed Morales.
House Representative Joe Straus was elected in 2005 to the Texas House of Representatives in 2005 and was elected by his peers as Speaker of the House in 2009. Under his leadership, the House accomplished significant reforms to the state’s mental health system, an overhaul of the Child Protective Services System, and reform of the State school finance system.
